Water Damage Testing

Water Damage Testing Before & After Restoration

After a leak, flood or appliance failure, an independent inspection defines the real extent of the damage and verifies the restoration was done right — without a sales interest in the repair.

What we test

Independent testing for water-damaged properties

Restoration companies dry and rebuild. We measure, sample and document — so homeowners, property managers and insurers can see the facts before and after the work.

  • Moisture mapping to define how far water actually travelled — walls, subfloor, cabinets and ceilings
  • Thermal screening confirmed with moisture meter readings
  • Mold sampling when water sat long enough for growth, or odors appear
  • Asbestos and lead sampling before damaged pre-1990 materials are removed
  • Written documentation with photos and readings for insurance and restoration scopes
  • Drying verification and post-remediation clearance before rebuild

Testing only

Origin Environmental does not perform water damage restoration, mold remediation or abatement. If you need trusted help, we can refer you to vetted remediation contractors certified by the IICRC. Related services: leak detection, mold testing, clearance testing.

FAQ

Water damage and restoration questions

No. Origin Environmental is an independent testing firm. We document the damage and verify the results so the restoration company's work can be scoped and checked objectively. If you need trusted help, we can refer you to vetted, IICRC-certified restoration and remediation contractors.

A defined moisture map keeps the demolition scope accurate, and older materials may need asbestos or lead testing before they are cut out. Both protect you and the crew.

Materials should read at or near dry reference values for the same material. We take independent readings and, where mold remediation was part of the job, perform clearance testing before walls are closed.

We cannot guarantee any insurer's decision, but our reports include photos, locations, readings and lab results that adjusters and restoration contractors commonly rely on.

  • Tien Lam

“Justin came out to assess the situation and tested for several things. Remaining moisture, thermal imaging, air sample testing and direct swab exam samples. We got the results in less than 2 days with a full report showing photos, labs and a sketch… ALWAYS TEST! Is my advice.”

“They helped me identify moisture issues related to prior water damage and explained everything clearly… The inspection process was detailed, unbiased, and focused on finding the true source of the problem. I really appreciated that they weren't upselling or pressuring me for services.”
